Gabdulmyazhit Nurganievich Gafuri was born on June 20, 1880, in the family of a rural khalifa (teacher of a madrasah) in the village of Elem-Karanovo, Sterlitamak district, Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.
In the works created before the first Russian revolution, he exposed the gross arbitrariness of the autocratic power, described the powerless life of the working people, expressed with its hatred of the exploiters and bright hopes for freedom and a happy future.
During the Soviet period, M. Gafuri creates his best works. In them, the poet, with great skill, showed the hard life of the working masses, their poor and hopeless life in the past, and reflected the process of the disintegration of the national bourgeoisie and intelligentsia.
