Yuri Vizbor was born June 20, 1934, in Moscow.
In 1951, Vizbor graduated from Moscow Secondary School No. 659 and entered the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute. V.I. Lenin Moscow State Pedagogical Institute. In 1955 Vizbor graduated from the institute with a degree in Russian language and literature.
In October of the same year, he was drafted into the Soviet Army. The army period, in the opinion of R. Shipov, the compiler of the collected works of Vizbor - played a decisive role in the formation of the author as a poet.
In October 1957, he left the army and began to work as a journalist, first at the Moscow radio. 
His compositions included songs, poetic prose, plays, screenplays and short stories.
Yuri Vizbor died on September 17, 1984, aged 50, in Moscow
