Pavel Grigorievich Antokolsky was born on July 1, 1896, in St. Petersburg, Russian Empire. Russian Soviet poet, translator and playwright.
Pavel Antokolsky wrote his first poems in his youth, but he did not take this occupation seriously. In 1920, he approached a group of Moscow writers who gathered at the Poets' Cafe on Tverskaya Street. There Antokolsky met with V. Bryusov, who liked the poems of the novice author, and in 1921 he published his first works.
The early works of the poet were full of romance and passion for the theatre. But gradually Antokolsky's lyrics acquire a civic sound. Gradually, maturity occurs, the style and the author's own thematic orientation are acquired.
