Canadian journalist, writer, and poet. Born Janet McKinshey, she was born into a Scottish immigrant family. She attended St. Thomas College. In 1879 she married Bassett Bluett and published her first novel, Out of the Depths. she wrote regularly for The Globe, a Toronto newspaper, where she later became editor of the housekeeping department. In 1919, with the support of the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire, she published a booklet, Heart Stories, to benefit military benefactors. She regularly lectured on abstinence and suffragettes.
